A Spanish-style Hollywood Hills estate once owned by Madonna is on the market for $21 million USD, according to Mansion Global. Known as Castillo del Lago, the circa-1920s house is perched on a ridge below the famed Hollywood sign. The 10,500-square-foot house features a lavish mix of custom wrought iron, vibrant period tile, hand painted details, grand fireplaces, exposed wood beams and Spanish archways. Fun fact: the house was once used to film scenes for the 1984 hit Beverly Hills Cop .

Architectural highlights include 25′ stencilled wood beams in the two-storey living room, where rows of French doors open to a terrace with an expansive view of Lake Hollywood.
Madonna bought the property for around $5 million in 1996 while filming Evita.
The formal dining room pairs an intricate honeycomb ceiling with terracotta floors.
A star light fixture and patterned fabrics liven up the breakfast room.
The principal bedroom has many areas to work and unwind. Moorish arched doorways and columns are among the standout architectural features.
An elaborately carved canopy bed is accented by matching fabrics and drapes, hardwood floors, and deep casement windows.
The primary suite has double baths and is embellished with intricate tile designs and arched niches and alcoves for a Moorish flavor.
This guest bedroom has 360-degree views and a fabric-cloaked tented ceiling over the bed.
A loggia opens to a central courtyard accessed through a set of French doors with screens.
Mature, towering palms soar towards the Castillo del Lago’s distinctive tower (Madonna drew her neighbors’ ire after painting the tower with red stripes to resemble a church she admired in Portofino).
The central courtyard has a brightly tiled quatrefoil fountain and outdoor fireplace. The current owner opened breezeway and planted climbing plants like fig ivy, wisteria and jasmine to adorn the walls.
The garden overlooks the city and has a zen-like lap pool surrounded by velvety manicured lawns.
