Arizona’s Camelback Mountain forms the backdrop for this hotel, which underwent a major rebuild in 2017 (the original hotel was a favorite hangout for Rat Pack–era celebs). The suites marry MCM design with southwestern art accents, but the spacious central lawn and pools will entice you away from your room.

New: Taliesin West
Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and desert laboratory recently received UNESCO World Heritage designation. From the time it was built in 1937 until his death in 1959, the property grew to include a drafting studio, theatre, workshop and residences for apprentices. Guided and self-guided tours are available through May 31.

Classic: Ultimate Art and Cultural Tours
Expert guide Ace Bailey’s current tour dives into Hotel Valley Ho, a design landmark and former destination for the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart. Visit the building, tracing its journey from opening in 1956 to near demise in 2003 to the $109-million redesign in 2005.

Brendan and Jillian Bader’s shop boasts a stunning collection of furniture, fixtures and accents from local makers like Phoenix potter Bettina Chow. You’ll also find unique vintage pieces, all looking for a second life.
